Actress Khanya Mkangisa who plays Akhona in #TheQueenMzansi arrested, spends night behind bars

SHE’S one of Mzansi’s sexiest stars. But even pretty looks and stardom weren’t enough to save Khanya Mkangisa from a hit-and-run case!
The sassy actress and TV host was recently nabbed. She’s said to have pulled a disappearing act after allegedly damaging a swanky BMW. But Khanya was tracked down by police, when the owner of the beamer – a lady identified as Katlego Mphuthi – pursued charges of failing to stop after an accident.
The 30-year-old, who plays Akhona in popular Mzansi Magic telenovela, The Queen, was held in the cells of the Randburg Police Station on Sunday and released the following day. According to a police statement seen by the SunTeam, the incident occurred at the Beluga Complex on Ormonde Street in Bryanston, north of Joburg.
In the statement, Katlego told police she had parked her orange BMW at her allocated demarcation inside the complex. She said when she got back, she realised someone had bumped her car.

According to Katlego, she then inquired with the security guards. One of the male guards told her that her car was bumped into by one of the ladies who drives a black Jeep. They then gave her the registration number.
Katlego told police the guard told her the owner of the car that allegedly damaged hers also lived at the same complex. According to her statement, Katlego went with police to the apartment of the sexy Selimathunzi host and found her under the influence of alcohol.
When confronted, Khanya allegedly became aggressive and swore at Katlego and the police. Reads the statement, in part: “She became aggressive and started to swear at them, calling them names.”
Said police spokesperson, Lungelo Dlamini: “This office confirms a case of hit-and-run (resulting from an accident) was registered in Randburg and Khanya was arrested and released from the police cells the following day. This was after police had discussed the matter with the prosecuting authority at Randburg Magistrate’s Court. The docket is still being reviewed by the prosecutor.”
Katlego said: “Yes, I confirm she got arrested at the Randburg Police Station for a hit and run/crimen injuria. Unfortunately, I won’t comment on anything,” she said.
Katlego and the police are pursuing crimen injuria charges. Khanya could not be reached for comment. She also failed to respond to our SMSes and WhatsApp messages.
